    The Institute of Road Transport was established in 1976 under the Control of Government of Tamil Nadu and has been registered as a society under the Indian Societies Registration Act 1860. 

  • IRT Engineering College

    The Institute Of Road and Transport Technology (IRTT) was established in the year 1984. It is run by Department of State Transport, Government of TamilNadu. It provides a congenial atmosphere for Technical Education. The Institute has excellent infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, library and highly qualified faculty members. 

  • Govt. Erode Medical College

    Govt. Erode Medical College is estabilished to train medical students through a primary health care approach with special emphasis on health promotion, disease prevention, early detection, diagnosis and management of diseases including rehabilitation and social integration of transport workers, their families and rural population.

Heavy Motor Vehicle Driving Training Course at TNSTC'S Centres

The Heavy Vehicle Driver Training Course is also conducted at 16 other places namely Trichy (IRT), Madurai, Pollachi, Salem, Villupuram, Vellore, Kumbakonam, Karaikudi, Pudukottai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Erode, Dharmapuri and Trichy (SETC) in association with TNSTC from 1994-95.

All the TNSTC HVDT Centres have so far trained more than 28,000 drivers.

The minimum requirements for the trainees to get admitted this driver training are gives as below:

General Education :A pass in 8th Std. with tamil as one subjector equivalent examination recognized by the State Government.

Age: Minimum 20 Years

Height : Not less than 155 Cms.

Weight : Not less than 50 Kgs.

Driving Licence : 1 year completed in Light Motor Vehicle

Driving with PSV Badge.

With good eye sight and free from other physical disabilities
